With respect to 60 species recorded by BirdCam by us “civilians” as Wingscapes “Life Listers”, I am delighted to report that I’m tied for fifth place nationwide with four. I first checked in with a Pine Warbler and Brown Headed Nuthatch back in February 2008, added a Laughing Gull in June, and was awarded the Hermit Thrush in January. I have worked my backyard environment well in over a year, so realistically my next opportunity to add to the national register comes with the spring migrations, when just possibly I can add some interesting visitors. But if not, so what? It’s a great deal of fun just to watch my familiar southeast birds and collect wonderful pictures of their goings-on.
