Nearly Missed Siskins

This was a perfect case of the BirdCam rescuing me from my own prejudices. I hadn't paid any photographic attention to my tube feeders since late November, having only casually noted "lots" of house- and gold- finches working them. A naturalist friend asked me in mid-January if I'd seen Pine Siskins at my feeders. Central North Carolina has been enjoying an irruption of this species -- and I was missing it! That day I turned the BirdCam on the tube feeders and in short order discovered copious evidence of what I'd been missing. In the course of eleven days of tube feeder photography I've recorded Siskins each day and come to better understood their tastes and behavior.
