Near the end of every May the Mahonia bushes we inherited from the previous owner burst into fruit and are promptly assailed by the Thrush cousins: Catbirds, Robins, and Mockingbirds. I had been worried about the Mahonias after a freeze hit us in early April, killing many of its flowers. But the crop has come in at a near-healthy level, and the Catbirds are already working it with gusto. I've positioned the BirdCam out front, on its back, on the ground, to capture images of the fun. I expect the birds will pick the bushes clean before June. By that time I am assured of many entertaining photographs of the Mahonia Raiders.
