Last summer I pretty much gave up on the idea of seeing Pine Warblers at the suet baskets and did not photograph any from late June until November. So I am wondering if my June sightings this year are to be my last until the fall. In fact I am already observing less Pine Warbler traffic at the suet baskets than was typical in the winter months. But it is enough visitation for me to take notice. I suspect there is a nesting pair very close by and perhaps the suet is needed to help feed youngsters. But after that? Presumably the insect population will grow sufficiently to be these woodland birds' staple. While I don't mind the warblers helping keeping the nuisance insect count low, I would not mind seeing them pay at least an occasional summer visit to my cafe.
