I have reported that my most elusive backyard bird, photographically speaking, is the Eastern Towhee. I have very few pictures of this camera-sky skulker. This is a function mostly of not operating the BirdCam in quite the right habitats. But until yesterday, those photos were exclusively of the adults (and actually, of the males.) That changed yesterday when a juvenile Towhee paid a visit to the ground bird bath and, by accident, the BirdCam. It's easy to see why this bird would be so very hard to observe against the backdrop of leaf litter or brushy ground cover. I can add another successful nest attempt to the 2009 scorecard, and I hope this Towhee pays regular visits at least to the bath.
