Many of my bird feeding peers regularly complain about the Common Grackles. These "bird bikers" can sweep in and clean out feeders in no time at all. For whatever reasons, this is not a problem I am facing. I do attract Grackles from time to time, but these birds seem to behave when they are present, neither overeating nor abusing smaller birds. Nor do I see very many of them. Usually one or two is about it. And best of all, I have no confirmed sightings here since July 2nd. So I am counting this among my blessings. If this keeps up, I am content to tolerate the Grackles and even enjoy these truly handsome birds. Hopefully they will not be talking about my feeders to their friends!
