
(1) No squirrels were photographed. None! This feeder would be a cinch for a tree rat to get at. At least yesterday, said tree rats were content to use "their" platform feeder.
(2) House Finches continue to own the show. These avian gluttons appeared in 42 of 90 photos taken yesterday. If we add American Goldfinches, that brings us to half the photos.
(3) Cardinals can handle these tube feeders. I took nine pictures of Cardinals perched on the feeder ports. I have seen a lot of this.
(4) There is sufficient evidence to suggest that the "Parid" winter gang has formed. I observed nearly equal proportions of pictures of Tufted Titmice, Carolina Chickadees, and Brown Headed Nuthatches (the last shown above.)
(5) Even at this slow time of year, a photo was taken, on average, every five minutes.
I'm shooting at the other tube feeder today. I'll be very interested to compare and contrast results, and to share more "tube talk."
