Call me crazy but I am convinced that putting up a new feeder brought out every Goldfinch in the neighborhood and beyond. Suddenly there are Goldfinches everywhere: front yard, back yard, side yard, in the trees. And most still in their summer plumage, although signs of molt are in evidence. I'm putting out more sunflower seed than usual and even ordered a larger tube feeder in order to retain that high interest in the sunny front yard station. I never know what will ultimately impress these very fickle birds. So now September is even more interesting and my hopes for a Goldfinchy winter seem improved. Bring on that fantastic wave of yellow!

Goldfinches Everywhere
