Nuthatches Fairly Active Now

Those darn on-again/off-again nuthatches (both White Breasted --pictured-- and Brown Headed) have been all over my feeders for several days. For whatever reasons these characters vanish for a spell and upon reappearing visit the feeders frequently. This is much pleasanter to see than, say, Hurricane Earl coming through (which will not likely happen here, thankfully,) so I shall cheerfully overlook their gluttony. After all, the White Breasteds are only filling a suet niche just abandoned by the Catbirds, and the Brown Headeds can't do too much more to the Sunflower seed that the finches haven't already done. And for heaven's sake, nuthatches are so fun to watch (and listen to.) I wonder if either species will do a another vanishing act before the cold weather sets in. We shall see!
