Peanuts Not Getting the Job Done

What's really surprised me in the past two weeks has been the tepid response to my peanut feeder. Sure, some of the usual suspects pay visits: wrens, titmice, chickadees, nuthatches. But they don't visit with much frequency. Even this Brown Nuthatch came up on the BirdCam all of once all day today. So what's going on? wrong time of year? too much work to peck out pieces? too much novelty? This is a puzzler and I'm not sure if I need to pull the thing down and wait until colder times. I may sit out another couple of weeks and make my decision at the beginning of May. As things stand---this is not getting the job done.
