Peanuts Bringin' Em In

The response this winter to our offering of peanuts continues to persuade me that this is one foodstuff that is a fair success around here, unlike, say nyger seed which is pretty much a waste of money.   In the last six months the "peanutheads" in our stable (wrens, downies, nuthatches, chickadees, titmice, etc.) have put down 94 ounces (almost six pounds) of peanuts.  It is not moving nearly as fast as sunflower seeds, but chopping up peanuts is much more work.  However, it's work these characters are willing to do.  And unlike peanut butter this is something I can keep up for more of the year.  So it's time to top off this feeder again!
