Elusive, At Home
Over the weekend we took in a nature education class (titled "signs of spring") and visited various points where spring was coming in. Yet, one of the highlights was observing a sign of winter, and one that will be leaving very soon. And that would be this Hermit Thrush which was working a wet patch in search of invertebrates. I have seen this species come to a peanut butter feeder, and it's strange indeed to picture that feeder activity when it's in a proper home. And a Hermit Thrush is well named. Were it not for Jennifer's chance glimpse, we might very well have overlooked the bird. It is truly elusive, and quiet.
