A Last Hummingbird?
It is deep in September: so deep I usually expect the Ruby Throated Hummingbirds to be gone for the winter. But at least one was seen poking about over the weekend. It am certain it is a migrant male. At the very least it didn't seem to know the property nearly as well as the established birds. I could tell by the way the exasperated hummer worked at a pull cord for the garage door whose handle is red. No experienced bird would be making that mistake! So it may be possible I see these little characters up to the equinox. I'll keep all the feeders up another week!
