On the Alert For a Thrush

One of the winter specials we have been enjoying in recent years is the Hermit Thrush.  This bird is elusive in the wild, but one found my peanut butter and suet feeders three years ago and we've seen it every winter since--and for a longer part of the winter each time.  I know the HT's are back in the area.  Will our friend return?  or has the bird passed away and left its legacy, maybe, to a younger aspirant?  I likely won't know for another few weeks: the Hermit Thrushes do take their time paying me a visit.  Can't wait to find out!

I am a beginning birder from Fayetteville and found your delightful blog a couple of months ago. I check in everyday to enjoy and learn. Thank you for being such a haven for our friends. Sarah

Hello Sarah! Thanks so much for reading! Fayetteville should offer some wonderful visitors-- I do know the area from working there many years and from my periodic visits to Weymouth Woods over by Fort Bragg. Would love to hear how you're doing with your birds, if you care to do so. Very best, David
