WInter Preparations, Part Two
Yesterday we covered food in our plan for the cold months. What's next? Birds need water all year round and in winter it is sometimes hard to come by--in liquid form. Here at the land of Cary BirdCam we use deicers in our bird baths. This unit (shown) plugs into a high duty outdoor-capable extension cord and rests in the bath, ready to switch on when the temperature falls below 34F. That's a real blessing on cold mornings! I've seen birds perch on the edge in a line, happy to take a drink. The deicer is not too costly and uses very little electricity. Keep it in mind! Your birds will appreciate it.
