This winter has not been especially dazzling in terms of the species count. Yes, I've seen the Hermit Thrush and the Yellow Rumped Warblers. Not often. And the traffic overall is just so-so, thanks to mild winter. And so we're dependent for our razzle dazzle on the regulars. And I can say I have the blues. Bluebirds, that is.
Our family group from the past summer has been sticking with us. I'm not quite sure how many individuals, but it's at least two males and two females. They're daily visitors to the suet baskets, so they're readily visible with sufficient patience any day I care to look for them. I'd assume they are finding insects in even our winters, but I am certainly helping them along!
So not only are these blues making winter a little brighter. But I am confident enough these Blues will last into the warm times, use that nice nest box I've put up (earlier this time, please!). Let's sing the blues!
