Early this winter I found and dusted off a cheap plastic window feeder and affixed it to a pane visible to our sun room. It didn’t take too many days for the Tufted Titmice and Carolina Chickadees to discover this ideally sized feeder. These fearless characters have no problem landing (with a bit of a “thump”) and fishing out a sunflower seed only a few feet from the sun room armchair. So far as we have seen, no one else has made regular use of the feeder, although a Carolina Wren has been observed investigating the area and has been photographed once inside the box. This activity would be a natural application for the Video mode of the BirdCam (leading to a four minute film featuring the antics of my most entertaining visitors) except that the little rascals are now camera shy and visiting less than ten times a day!
