The Return of the Kinglet

Last winter We were graced by frequent sightings (and photos) of Ruby Crowned Kinglets. This winter I have been observing considerably less visitation by these restless little birds, and I didn’t record their first visit until late January. However, things have picked up: I have more visual observations, and at least a few more confirmed photographs. And if last winter sets the pattern I should expect to see Kinglets until the first week or so of April. This is one species I would particularly miss if absent in my area as they are entertaining to watch and are probably the most fearless bird I’ve encountered (I have had one inches from me as I filled feeders). All I can do now is set out an enticing spread and hopefully these valued customers will honor me with their presence.
