Unusable Pictures and Bird Butts

I’m sure that a possible frustration for the beginning BirdCam user is that relatively few pictures are “keepers.” Many of mine look like the image to the right: Yup. Bird Butts. Or, the photos are blurry or show nothing at all. When I first deployed the unit, I expected some fraction of unusable images, but it took a little time to adjust myself to the percentage of pictures I get that I can actually use. According to my logbook, I have only placed 4% of the 35,410 photos I’ve taken in my “Best of BirdCam” folder on the PC. In other words, I don’t use 96 pictures out of every 100. Some days, it’s dozens of Bird Butt pictures in a row---the little rascals don’t always want to pose on the right perch! Fortunately, digital imagery is cheap: be patient for the money shots. Happy hunting!
