Recipe for a delightfully entertaining backyard show: Take one winter day. Chill (to 35 degrees, with wind). Add 2-4 Tbsp of peanut butter to a suspended feeder. Let stand. Stir in three or more Yellow Rumped Warblers. Season with Eastern Bluebirds, Ruby Crowned Kinglets, and Pine Warblers. Sit back and enjoy the results! And on Monday, following the snow, it was indeed a spectacle. I found 1,137 photos on my BirdCam’s SD card at the end of the day---only once before have I racked up more than 1,000! The great majority of these photos included one or more Yellow Rumped Warblers, many hovering, leaping, or waiting to pounce on the peanut butter feeder, with almost no letup from sunup to sundown. Yes, there are no dull moments on any feeder on a cold snow-day. But it would be hard to beat this show.
