A Dangerous Guest

This past weekend brought fell tidings to Cary BirdCam. My amply stocked and well attended feeder station has evidently brought in a resident Cooper's Hawk. I first became aware of this hawk's sinister presence in January as it dined on what had been a Tufted Titmouse. I chased off a Cooper's this Saturday afternoon and only later discovered it had already finished off another Titmouse. And to make matters worse, I saw what was surely the same bird one street over as we walked the neighborhood on Sunday. Presumably the hawk has had other meals off our property, for it is surely interested in my feeders' clientele. Hardly any seed moved on Sunday. Are my regulars frightened off? or did the warm weekend weather divert them to other food choices? and will the Cooper's Hawk stick around and decimate my passerine population? I can only watch, wait, and hope for the best.
