I think most people treat user manuals as something to consult only in dire circumstances ("when all else fails, see the instructions",) and I am no exception. I keep my many manuals in a box in the garage and am thus reminded, painfully, of how many I don’t think I’ve even opened. However, I have tried to be good about my Wingscapes BirdCam manual and can honestly say that I have now read it cover to cover twice. My last reading was an effort to reveal “hidden gems”: ideas or features that previously escaped my attention. Evidently I did a good job in earlier reads because I only noted a few new concepts this time, including the lockable hasp and how/where to hang the BirdCam using the hanger loop at its crown. But in earlier perusals I acquired a (correct) understanding of how to time lapse, insights on battery life, specs on the laser pointer, and much more. The BirdCam is chock full of features and settings that can make a major difference in one’s photography of birds (or anything else.) Make a point to review this clearly written and organized manual, and push your feature envelope!

Finding Jewels in the User Manual
