"Offer the right food, and they will come." It may not be a Field of Dreams here at Cary BirdCam, but we sure have a mess o' Mourning Doves. Prior to my adoption of safflower seed, Mourning Doves were an uncommon sight at my feeder station. Now...they have moved in to stay. The odds are good I'll see one every time I look out the window. These Columbidads are wonderful BirdCam subjects, in part because they have such interesting features (the blue eye linings are something to behold) and also because their slow, elegant movements make possible a clear photograph almost every time. They may be guests with a champagne taste, but the Mourning Doves are a delightful addition to the family.

Mourning Doves Move In
