The first weekend of the month was warm and pleasant, giving me at long last the opportunity to do some work on the main feeder station here at Cary BirdCam. I expanded the topmost arms another two feet each, allowing me to spread the feeders out a little more (things were noticeably crowded about the central post this winter.) And I had the opportunity to break out the Krylon and repaint the superstructure. My next project is to reseat the entire “tree” in a concrete base. Unfortunately over time the increasingly heavy feeder station—now boasting thirteen feeders, six weather domes, and a few additional attachments-- has sunk deeper into the ground (and this is heavy Carolina clay that we’re talking about!) This all has been an ongoing construction project for four years and think I am beginning to see the end. After this? We shall see.
