It is an odds-on bet that the most neglected feature of the BirdCam is Test Mode. After all, its only function is as a diagnostic for the unit. Most people, including myself don’t feel the need to run diagnostics unless something is plainly wrong. But here is a case when a well-used minute can potentially spare the loss of wonderful pictures due to any errors or problems. The procedure is easy to run -- just enter Setup Mode and enter "up arrow" when asked to test the camera. The test takes mere secords. Fortunately the BirdCam is a sturdy and reliable piece of equipment (at least mine has never failed the diagnostic test) Suggestion: put in a tickler note to yourself to run the diagnostic every 1st of the month. And happy photography!
