I confess that I am troubled. We are now in the second half of May and I have seen not a single Ruby Throated Hummingbird save for what was evidently a male in transit on Easter Sunday. Here we are, six weeks later, and the four nectar feeders have gone untouched. As I did some feeder related construction work yesterday (more on that in a future post) I couldn't help but notice which birds that I wasn't seeing or hearing. I don't believe I have done anything that should cause the hummers to avoid this property: I can only assume this is the breaks. I will keep the feeders up, of course, and we'll just hope for a turn of luck later in the season. But the summer is just not the same without these winged jewels about.

Still No Hummingbirds
