BirdCamming in the Rain

We have had a fair number of rainy days this spring, as we always do in the Piedmont. While the Birdcam is very well protected from the wet stuff even in heavy downpours, the reality is that photography in the rain (during and immediately afterwards) is generally a losing prospect. The enemy for me is not so much that the bird traffic is lessened by rain (which it isn’t) but that the faceplate often fogs up especially in warm weather and the result are lousy images like the one above. On the plus side, the fog typically clears up within an hour and I don't always get nailed by fog (a review of photos taken on days with .25" of rain or more showed a one or more foggy photos on fewer than half the days). This is one of those small inconveniences that come with dealing with the weather. For now, I shrug and move on. But be aware this is a possible negative effect on your own BirdCam photography.
