Another Wingscapes Citation!

This just in! I am flattered to find one of my BirdCam photographs on the Wingscapes blog today. Ornithologist John Riutta used this surprising picture of a Carolina Wren at a hummingbird feeder to illustrate the unexpected and interesting behavior of songbirds. I am also very gratified to learn that my surmise about this behavior was "bought" by John. Whew! Sometimes I take an educated guess and then hang on for the ride. As always, I am glad to contribute to bird scholarship in my own little way. Thanks, Wingscapes!

David,
You just have so much insight to these birds! It's always a pleasure and informative to read your blogs - I just wish I had someone with your love of birds nearby that I could hang out with!

Hi Deb! I have no doubt you'll find great birder buddies in your part of the fruited plains. Sorry I can't drop by every now and then but Portland would be a heck of a trip for me! By the way, how is the bird counting going? I have been curious what the latest stories have been.
