Over the years I have learned, as a result of many note comparisons with fellow birdfeeders, that "results may vary." It always seems that each feeder station either gets birds no one else does, or doesn't get birds, or has birds do things that seem outside the mainstream experience. For example, I appear to have particularly good luck with nuthatches, and had a Hermit Thrush all winter. At the same time, I had decided I was not getting a fair shake with American Goldfinches. I put out the right seed, but no joy. They dumped me in recent summers and they were not exactly common visitors the rest of the year. I see a pair, and that's it. But I hear them in the neighborhood, as if they were taunting me. "Ha ha! we will go to other feeders BUT NOT YOURS (maniacal laughter.") Well, you know what...GOOD. Stay away! I don't enjoy paying for uber-priced nyjer seed!! I have plenty of other, colorful birds and frankly even the drab ones have more personality! The HECK with you!! :-) yes, it feels good to vent.
