Our latest feeder acquisition (a raised platform) has been quickly discovered and appears to be a welcome destination for several different species. Tuesday's photo run on the BirdCam revealed visits by Northern Cardinals (a juvenile male is shown in the picture above---notice the distinctive black bill not seen on adults), Carolina Wrens, Gray Catbirds, and Brown Thrashers among others. I stocked the pan with a mix of sunflower seed, safflower seed, white millet seed, and peanut pieces to see what reigned supreme with this crowd. It is really too soon to tell. I'll know more when I clean the feeders on the weekend. What is more: only one picture of a squirrel, and it was not trying to break in! I hope this is a good sign for the future. I am running the BirdCam at the new platform again and we'll see who else turns out for the party!
