It has been two weeks since I disconnected my ornery dripper system--for at least this season. In the meantime I've used the "sneaker" method of topping off the pedestal bird bath and have let the water wiggler device keep things interesting from a bird's point of view. And everything is just fine. The birds are no less attracted to the bath (I observed a decent amount of use over the weekend), I don't risk another 400-500 gallon disaster, and I have peace of mind. You can't beat that. I'll assess things over the winter and make decisions about 2010 much later. But at this rate I would be hard pressed to rig up that crazy dripper and mister system again. I prefer calmer waters.Monday, September 14, 2009
