A Dule of Doves

Here's a word for you. Dule. From Palomar Audubon comes this term for a group of Doves. Alternatives are bevy, cote, dole, dule, and (I am not making this up) piteousness. Well, I have one of these in my own back yard. For my dule of doves has grown steadily to now five birds and maybe one or more others. The easy pickings of safflower seed are an obvious attractor and it looks like the word in Columbid land is that there is a good deal in a certain part of Cary. I can remember a time when I couldn't get Mourning Doves near a feeder. So far this dule is behaving itself and I am not putting out more than the usual daily allocation of seed. So if more show up, they'll have to sort out who gets first dibs. Ought to be interesting to see.
