Squirrel Proof Tubes More Popular

For some time I have owned two "squirrel proof" tube feeders that I've stocked with sunflower seed. I've been only giving them occasional attention with the BirdCam because I had gotten rather modest traffic. But in recent months this has changed, almost as if a number of birds have just discovered the feeders. Admittedly, the feeder isn't all that easy for them to use, compared with standard perch-and-port tubes. Lately we're seeing all kinds of smaller passerines at these feeders. Both White-Breasted and Brown-Headed Nuthatches are regulars as are the Chickadees and Titmice who were pretty much the only users before. I am also seeing Goldfinches, House Finches and Carolina Wrens. Seed consumption at these feeders has gone up sharply, so perhaps these tubes has come of its own. I am definitely going to look more often here as winter approaches.
