As the remnants of hurricane Ida swept over us yesterday and we recorded our 3rd rainiest day in Cary since 1944 (or so the news people say--I don't believe them: I am certain I experienced at least a dozen days that wet here,) I am reminded that for the birds it's always an outdoor table at the feeder cafe. I have no idea if they find the rain bothersome, but they have little choice. BirdCam took some pictures in the thick of the rain but as usual the camera had problems getting enough light in the downpours and the lens easily fogs up, so I can't get an accurate census of feeder activity through the day. But what I saw was busy. It was a cool enough day that the extra nutrition was definitely needed by my regulars. There's more rain today, and the wind will be up, and I made sure to check and restock every feeder. The Eat Goes On.
