Slowly Returning

I am seeing more signs of returning birds after a strange avian-free weekend. The wrens are as active as usual now, and I've seen a few house finches and cardinals over at the safflower seed feeder. It is odd that they are not working the sunflower tubes very much at all, except that this feeder is closest to the treeline. This leads me to a reinforced belief that my pesky Cooper's Hawk is still very much in the area. Anyway, I am glad I have not entirely been abandoned by the regulars. I'll be hoping the rest show up soon and that by the end of the month I get my winter guests in force.
