Our friend the Hermit Thrush has been winning points for persistence. I am seeing BirdCam photo evidence that it has been making a real go of the suet and peanut butter feeders. Characteristically for a thrush, it is not good at perching and these forays are mad wing-flapping struggles to maintain altitude and position. Consquently I am not getting very good photos, but I do know what they are up to. And in time, if it hasn't already, it will seize on an approach that yields tasty morsels regularly. One--possibly this same bird--learned to get on top of a suet basket last winter. And it may even have found the suet nuggets in the hanging platform feeder. This is one determined visitor: I give it a solid "A" for effort and await developments.
