That Was Fast

It has amused me during the tenure of this weblog how I can arrive at a conclusion based on observation, post to that effect, and then the same day be overruled by a change in the reality. And such is the case with my guest Hermit Thrush. Yesterday I mused that the Thrush was struggling to master our suet and peanut butter feeders, but hopefully would eventually get the hang of it. That "eventually" was arrived at maybe three hours after Wednesday's blog post. For in yesterday's BirdCam photo deck I found this all-too-clear evidence that said Hermit Thrush was both perched on the woodpecker-friendly suet basket---and enjoying the fruits of its labors. I am very glad to be wrong on this one, especially in the case of so delightful a songbird. That's how we learn. Trial and lots of error!
