Christmas (Tree) Lives On

Today is the Feast of the Epiphany, which for those of us in the Anglican Communion means that Christmas season is at an end. Well, excluding any 12th Night dinners that might take place this weekend, but that would be another story. I am putting the ejecta of the now-ended season to good use. My next door neighbors dragged their unwanted Christmas tree to the curb. And yesterday I knocked on their door and asked if I could drag it to my back yard where it is now serving as an appliance for the songbirds: a place to get out of the wind or a place to dodge predators as long as it lasts. It's cinched up very close to my southwest corner feeders and should be an attractive perch. So in the land of Cary BirdCam, a little touch of Christmas will persist. O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum, wie treu sind deine Blätter!
