No great insights today, folks. This very interesting photograph of an Eastern Towhee -- an eerie exposure showing the bird and the brush behind it -- reminded me powerfully that other things in my Birding Life have faded out. And that would be my annual four-day expedition to the North Carolina Outer Banks. I planned to visit over eight lakes, refuges, and parks and to see the awesome spectacle of the wintering Tundra Swans. But my overloaded music - professional - civic schedule restricted me to three weekend choices over the 13-week Tundra Swan season. And this year's hyperactive El Nino-esque weather has skunked me every time. My last option will be blown away by the coming weekend storm sweeping in from the southwest. Too bad: I had great multi-media plans. So I will look ahead to my next window of opportunity in the early spring. Hm... but where?
