Woo hoo! break out the party hats! For I am in a celebrating mood. BirdCam photography yesterday revealed the first definite signs of a Yellow Rumped (Myrtle) Warbler for this winter season. The Yellow-Rumpeds are only found here in the Southeast in winter, and in their drabber non-breeding plumage, but they are a welcome sight all the same. This one was characteristically interested in the peanut butter. They are clever enough: I expect they'll figure that anti-squirrel cage soon, assuming they actually stick around. I am hoping they do, and I should be able to enjoy seeing them for another ten weeks. My experience is that these birds are seriously thinking about migration in late March, but I have seen them into the first week or so of April. Winter suddenly got a lot more interesting for me!
