I can be very certain I am concentrating on the task of birdwatching in winter if I am able to find a Brown Creeper. These birds, winter visitors to our part of the country, are fairly difficult to locate even when looking for them: my photograph taken recently at the nearby nature preserve shows why. They blend into tree trunk backgrounds quite well. Their call is distinctive but honest to heavens I can't remember the last time I heard one call.
Here's a useful link for indentification. What is also certain is that I am not going to see one of these characters at my feeders. I have not ever seen one even on my property in all the time I have been here, and from chat with peers none has seen one visit their feeders, either. So the Brown Creeper is assured of being
visited, and in my case, a special goal. It's akin playing Where's Waldo?
