A Slow Pine Warbler Season

The Pine Warblers have been distinctly elusive this winter. I am long accustomed to seeing these attractive woodlanders regularly, especially in the non-summer months. They are attracted to suet and peanut products, so normally they are easy sells for the feeder station. But this is one winter when they are not visiting as often as before. I did take this photo yesterday, so they have not abandoned us. But presumably they are doing pretty well finding natural foods.
I expect things will start changing, both as the winter drags on and eventually as breeding season begins. Some of my suet species are especially visible only in the latest parts of winter. It may be the Pine Warblers joined that party in 2009-10. We shall see.
