As reported in Monday's post (see below) I have been performing some tests of the flash feature on our Wingscapes BirdCam 2.0, and we are learning more about this interesting tool. I can now report with confidence that the minimum range to trigger the flash is
not under a foot. That's great! As shown in the photo taken yesterday, a Northern Cardinal and a White Throated Sparrow caught the BirdCam's attention while more than two feet out. I am still feeling my way around the flash feature: regrettably the
user guide does not provide guidelines for use. But let's put things in perspective. The flash feature is
easy to use and it
delivers the goods. What's next in my battery of tests? Well, for one, I have only gotten photos using flash at ground level. I have yet to see one taken at a tube or suet feeder. So for the next several days I am going to try different angles daily to determine what might affect the sensor. Onwards!
