With two Wingscapes BirdCams on hand (both a model 1.0 and a 2.0) I have the luxury of taking photos based on day to day concerns and ideas as well as doing long term photography projects. Over the winter I dedicated the older camera to watching our pedestal bird bath to get a sense of traffic over that period of time. In the warmer months, I debated looking at a bird box, but haven't found an unintrusive way to mount the camera at a manageable height. I'll figure that out for 2011. So I am going to study a dish hummingbird feeder and monitor activity across the summer. I'm interested in day to day and week over week trends for the entire lifetime of the hummer season. And I may continue that forward to the fall if I think I have much opportunity for Rufous Hummingbirds. The camera was positioned and tested Saturday. Onward Citizen Science!Monday, April 5, 2010

I just received a birdcam and set it up on the HB feeder. Here we get the calliope, rufous, and black chins.
When the weather warms up a bit more I think I might get some moth activity.
