The April bird drought remains rough and tough, and I am practically in ecstasy whenever I get any BirdCam photos of something that doesn't have gray fur. Lately I have seen occasional Red Bellied and Downy Woodpeckers, the White Breasted Nutchatches discussed yesterday, and Northern Cardinals. The Catbirds vanished after a couple of days, and I get a rare Goldfinch. Today I picked up a species that dropped out of sight weeks ago: a Brown Headed Nuthatch. I can't divine why one stopped by unless the hunting is uneven. So I don't feel completely abandoned. I am getting itchy to see traffic pick up some. When will that happen? Once we get some youngsters being trained to fend for themselves? We shall see.
