
I think it's a howl when folks portray Bluebirds as sweet little balls of fluff. You see these idealized birds on greeting cards and such, and it's just wrong. Bluebirds, I long ago learned, can be just as feisty as any other species out there. BirdCam captured this "conversation" between a male Blue and a Gray Catbird yesterday afternoon. Presumably the two clashed for a prime seat at the suet basket. I'm doing what I can to reduce feeder stress by spreading my feeders out (yes, I just bought
another feeder tree!) but at this high stress feed-the-youngsters time of year it will be unavoidable that birds will engage in WWE moments. But no harm is done, and I actually enjoy the idea of something getting the better of the perennially bad tempered Catbirds. Go Blue!
