The Compost With the Most

There's at least one American Robin who, at least today, thinks it died and went to heaven. It was a delightful enough matter for the bird after I cut the grass today, stirring up Lord knows how many invertebrates. I noticed the Robin promptly inspecting---and gorging---as I put away the lawnmower. But a few hours later, things radically improved from a Robin perspective. I dug up about ten gallons of compost and spread it on our flower beds. The Robin went wild! The compost, despite my careful culling efforts, was sufficiently thick with worms that the Robin busied itself for several hours. It was no doubt like shooting fish in a barrel. Well, composting is well worth it, but it was added delight to make one bird's day.
