Well, that was fast. Within the space of three weeks our birds cleaned out at least ten Leatherleaf Mahonia bushes, possibly a record. I figured they'd do the thing by June 1. Heck, we didn't even reach Memorial Day. My walk around the property today revealed the merest smattering of remaining fruit. Not enough to really count. And thus the BirdCam will be moved to hunt for Hummingbirds, and the Mockers, Robins, Catbirds, Cardinals, and others will return to their assaults on suet, insects, and whatever else suits them. It was a fun season: for them (in terms of eating) and me (for the entertainment value.)
