This is an annual ritual in the BirdCam era. Invariably it takes me some days between first hummingbird sighting (of the summer guests) and actually getting a photo. I am running
two BirdCams on hummer feeders at present, and despite having guests for at least a week, definitely and conclusively observed at three different feeders, neither camera has come up with a single image of one of these jokers. BirdCam 2.0 managed 98 photos yesterday, of this. Nothing. The settings are right: high sensitivity, proper focal length, and healthy batteries. What is odd is that by July I never have any trouble taking photos of the hummers. What an interesting mystery!
