Popular Sounding Post

We have a small sun garden in the front yard dominated by a trellis used for Morning Glories. And every year this trellis is an exceptionally popular place for some bird to announce his status to neighbors in the breeding season. Most often, a Northern Mockingbird will claim the perch. But so far this spring the Top Bird is an Eastern Towhee. This handsome specimen calls very loudly, but doesn't stay long each pass, retreating to a juniper bush nearby when he doesn't like something, such as a middle aged guy sneaking up on him with a camera. He'll be back... and soon nest season is over, and our sounding board trellis will be merely a stopping point for those birds on the hunt for fron yard insects.
